Ritu Kumar Launches Monochrome Collection

Ritu Kumar introduces her latest collection, Monochrome. It is one of its loveliest and best executed. Drawing inspiration from Chiaroscuro or the play of light and dark, this collection mixes classic colours and lines with more modern silhouettes and draping. An artisanal approach towards luxurious textures can be seen in full effect.

The colour palette is minimal with blacks and whites being predominant, and allowing for versatility. The silhouettes are modern, with interesting shrugs and dhoti pants bringing an androgynous edge to the line.  The soft cotton fabric used allows for comfort and makes this a functional collection.   Nous Minimal and geometric prints can be seen in full effect in the Monochrome collection, adding a modern take on simple yet sleek silhouettes.

Ritu Kumar Monochrome range is now available in stores in Dubai.

BML is the Platinum sponsor of the Lebanese-Egyptian Business Forum
Supporting investors to explore and vitalize their businesses and projects in both countries

Beirut, March 2, 2017: Fady Daouk, EGM of BML, confidently stated that there is a favorable opportunity to invest in Egypt, emphasizing that Bank of Egypt in Egypt and BML bank in Lebanon, will offer Lebanese and Egyptian businessmen all the support they might need in order to facilitate their banking operations and transactions. He stressed that their readiness to help will surely stimulate and power investments in both countries. These words came as part of a speech Daouk gave during his participation in The Lebanese-Egyptian Business Forum, which was held in its third edition in Beirut. Daouk, in a panel discussion about business and investment opportunities in Egypt and Lebanon, explained the important role played by BML throughout history in enlivening the economic relations between the two countries, and how it continues to do so today.

Daouk began by thanking the team from Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal, especially Mr. Raouf Abu Zaki, the Egyptian Embassy in Lebanon includingAmbassador Nazih Al Najari, Commercial Associate Dr. Mona Wehbe along with Egyptian Lebanese Businessmen Friendship Association (ELBA) for their effective cooperation which led to the success of trade exchange between Egypt and Lebanon, and particularly the success of this conference.

He then continued to emphasize the improvement and stability of the Egyptian currency after a difficult period of time. He said:“During that rough patch, 19 Egyptian pounds were equivalent to 1 US dollar. Today, and as a result of this improvement, the exchange rate has reached 15.7 pounds per US dollar.” He also expressed his personal confidence in the Egyptian currency, which he anticipates will undergo significant improvement in the coming period against the US dollar which has become readily available in the local Egyptian market.
Elaborating on the newfound security and economic stability in Egypt, Daouk noted that investors and businessmen should be taking advantage of these opportunities. He said:“There are various opportunities that have long presented themselves and must be used to the people and country’s benefit. The most notable of these are Egypt’s natural resources, rich labor and openness to many markets in light of established agreements with various Arab and African countries, in addition to the large-scale projects, among which the administrative capital and the expansion of the Suez Canal.”

Daouk also gave the audience an overview of the history of relations between Egypt and Lebanon, saying that the inauguration of BML in Lebanon back in 1929 was the first Egyptian investment in the country. The bank went through many expansions, now having 20 branches across Lebanese territory all of which provide comprehensive banking services. Daouk also announced that BML will open a representative office in Abidjan, Ivory Coast to serve and meet the needs of Lebanese and Egyptian expatriates in the West African region thus encouraging trade with Egypt and between Africa and Lebanon. Daouk suggested the importance of hosting an exhibition in Lebanon for all kinds of Egyptian industries, which will be completely supported by BML as its official sponsor.

The event was organized by the Egyptian-Lebanese Friendship Association, Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal, in collaboration with the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of commerce and the Federation of Lebanese Chambers of commerce along with the embassies of the two countries. It welcomed many ministers and businessmen from both Egypt and Lebanon. In fact, this Forum is particularly important in terms of its timing and the quality of participants, constituting a golden opportunity to discuss the developments in the economic relations between the two countries, explore the opportunities and address the obstacles.

Raouf Abu Zaki, CEO of Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal, commented on the distinguished and ancient ties between Egypt and Lebanon, all ofwhich arebuilt on a great deal of common interests. He said: “These strong ties are based- above all –on the reciprocated love between the people of both countries. There isn’t an Egyptian that doesn’t like to visit Lebanon, and there isn’t a Lebanese that wouldn’t love to visit Egypt. For that reason, we are confident that great milestones are ahead of us especially in tourism, trade and investments in general. This confidence stems from the evident seamlessness between the two countries, especially between the Egyptian skills in the field of production and the Lebanese skills in the fields of commerce, marketing and services. This underlines the potential for cooperation and beneficial exchanges, both at the bilateral level and at the Arab and African levels.”
It is worth noting that the Lebanese investments in Egypt have reached a mind blowing $70 million during 2016, a 45% increase from 2015.
